Three Beards Brewing
Three beards brewing is a made-up craft brewing company located in Boston, Massachusetts. The primary goal was to create three separate beer labels as well as a 6-pack design to go along with one of the labels. I then developed this brand further, design three more label designs and two variety pack designs.
Since I have always been interested in craft beer design, I had a lot of ideas for this project. Being from New England, I was familiar with the aesthetic of beer labeling from the region, and I knew I wanted to use an outdoorsy theme. Starting with the logo, I produced a hand drawn brand using three mountain peaks to represent the “three beards”. This inspired the idea to use typography that looked wood burnt.

Since I was going for a natural feeling, I knew I didn’t want to use an illustration style that looked computer derived so I had the idea of using real wood texture, while using illustration that looked like watercolors. I started with the three labels “First Cast IPA”, “Autumn Breeze Amber Ale”, and “Twelve Point Pilsner”. Once I had established a clear design system, I was easy to create the 6-pack, variety packs, and the other three labels.
